 Description

"Incursions into the Imaginary" is a scientific journal of comparative literature, open accessed, dedicated to literary, social, historical, religious studies and the science of the imaginary, as well. It is also open to pluri, inter and transdisciplinary researches. The journal is published annually and it is edited by the "Speculum" Imaginary Research Center within the Faculty of History, Letters and Educational Sciences of the "1 Decembrie 1918" University of Alba Iulia, Romania.

Aims and scope

"Incursions into the Imaginary" is a journal of comparative literature, and the thematically oriented studies are mainly published in languages of international circulation and are dedicated, mainly, to the literary cultures of the Romanian area.

Starting from the fact that the science of the imaginary is considered, at present, as one of the essential disciplines that facilitate the modern approach to the extensive problems related to the research of anthropological, social, cultural phenomena (with all its components), etc., the main concern of the editors was directed to the foundation of a tradition in the field of the imaginary, through works applied to the study of Romanian and foreign literature. An attempt was made, in a first stage, to delimit the area of the various modules intended to cover an activity in the domain of the imaginary, not only branched, but in permanent movement.

Although the disciplinary application to the issue of literature was predominant, inter- and multidisciplinary aspects (philosophy, philosophy of culture, theory of mentalities, sociology, history, psychology, communication theory, history of religions, etc.) were, naturally highly promoted. Cultivating interdisciplinary as a way of approaching the mechanisms of phenomena of great interest in the postmodern world (see those in the area of social behavior, the collective mind, media communication or cultural creativity), the research based on the science of the imaginary enjoys international recognition.

Also, through the themes proposed annually by the "Incursions into the Imaginary" journal, an openness towards universality is sought, since national literatures cannot be understood in isolation. They can stand out through the parallelism with the literatures from the same area, through the touches with the neighboring literatures, through making structural analogies with other literatures and not only.

The journal thematic orientation opens perspectives on the objects of literary history and each issue, structured thematically, will allow a comparative approach to literary facts, encouraging their placement in a cultural system of the circulation of forms, ideas, programs. Aiming to be written, gradually, mostly in English and French, the "Incursions into the Imaginary" addresses to foreign specialists, seeking to ensure the visibility of the conceptualizations specific to Romanian literature, and contributing to the formation of common categories for the description of national literatures.
